Autumn Walks

Monday, December 21, 2015

Sorry about the lack of posts in the last month or so! My laptop has been broken so I wasn't able to post but now it's fixed and the Christmas holidays so that means many more posts coming up!

Even though these pictures are from back in October I thought it would be nice to share them with you as I really enjoyed this day with my two friends Georgina and Paige. Literally all we did that day was take pictures.

Not a lot to write today, I just wanted to show some nice pictures and update you about why I haven't been posting.

Healthy Salad Wraps

Friday, October 23, 2015

I'm going to be doing something a little bit different today but I hope you like it.

Recently, I've been trying to get a little bit more healthier as I've joined the gym and am going on runs more often I decided that I should eat healthier to work along side the exercise so I've decided to share with you what a regularly take to school to eat at lunch.

You will need:

-Tortilla wraps
-Hummus
-Baby leaf lettuce
-Diced pepper
-Quartered cucumber
-Nando's Peri Peri sauce
I spread a layer of hummus across the whole of the wrap then down the middle I put the lettuce (I prefer baby leaf salad which comes from a bag).
Then over the top I sprinkle diced pepper and cucumber. I prefer red or orange pepper, I don't know exactly why but I just find that it tastes nicer than green pepper.
On top of everything I then pout Nando's sauce. Today I used the medium peri peri sauce which is quite spicy of you put too much on, like I do all of the time, but I also like the lemon and herb sauce which personally is my favourite.
But you can use any salad dressing or sauce you'd like, go with what you prefer!
Thanks for reading! Send me a tweet @evie_b_f if you made one!

Westward Ho! August 2015

Tuesday, September 08, 2015

A few weeks ago I went on holiday with my family to Westward Ho! in Devon (fun fact: it's the only place in England with an ! in it's name). Even though the weather was shocking and we had to come home a day early I had a good time. I made a short video of my time and you can watch it here.

The first day was a travelling day so I didn't do a lot then as I ended up going to sleep twice in the five hour journey down. Obviously we had to stop for Starbuck's to recharge ourselves and get ready for another few hours sitting in the same position. The sun was absolutely beautiful and when we went to Asda for food the first thing I bought was a 5 Seconds of Summer poster which isn't really a souvenir, I just liked it.

The second day was also so sunny that I actually got a tan, even though it is a very light one! We went to the beach for a small amount of time. The beach was half rocky at the top but as you get closer to the sea when the tide is out it's very sandy. I actually went in the sea in a bikini which I haven't done in at least two years! The males in our group went on the go karts for a bit before we walked around a bit and then went back to the campsite. After a shower we went on a walk through hilly terrains to the pebbly beach near to the site. I suspect this was when I got most of my tan as the wind make you not feel the warm rays of the sun. When we got back to the campsite we ate dinner and then we got a fire basket from reception and roasted marshmallows on it with chocolate digestives to create smores.

The third day was when the weather took a turn for the worse. Due to the rain we went to Beude and in to Beude Castle. We looked in the art gallery which held Sue Read's work, I bought a card of one of her paintings. The rest of the castle had historical exhibits about sailors and other things, we then went to the cafe which was really nice! Afterwards we went to the Gnome Reserve which I went to three or four years ago, we only ever seem to go in the rain! We all had to wear gnome hats and I bought my second pot gnome. We had lunch at a restaurant to get out of the rain before going back to the campsite and playing pontoon late at night in out tent.

The next day the weather seemed to pick up again and we went to Clovelly, it was my second time going but it's still really pretty. The streets are all cobbles and it's just a hill so it's really easy to slip, especially in the rain! We went down to the harbour and then walked across the pebbly beach to the small waterfall. My mum ended up convincing me to go in the waterfall and to the other side of it to take some 'arty' pictures of the water droplets falling and colliding with the rocks. Some are a bit blurry but I still like them, We then had to walk all of the way up the hill and back to car park and because of the hot weather and exercise we were all boiling and sweating which is not nice.

(I lost a load of writing from here on so I'm just summarising what I said in to shorter sentences.)

We didn't do a lot the next day except go to a chip shop, eat chips on the beach and walk for a bit. They day after was actually went home and it was actually so sunny!

I hope you enjoyed this post, there was more writing but I lost it!!

What's In My School Bag 2015

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

As it is the final week of the summer holiday's (cue cries) I have decided to share with you what's in my bag which contains a lot of essentials for school seeing as I am in my final year of doing GCSE's! This year is going to be very important for my future and unfortunately dictates what I do for a living.

My bag is The Fjällräven KÃ¥nken in the colour warm yellow, I've wanted this bag for ages and I found it for £52 on the website A.S.Adventure and I got that. Due to there being many fakes of these going cheap I've had to check all sorts such as the stitching, tags, logos and more and I can confirm that it is a real one.

In the main pocket I have an A4 folding Cath Kidston folder which I use to keep all of my homework which shouldn't be folded in there and other bits of paper which I need. I've already had this a year so it's not available any more but I do recommend getting any type of folder. In the pocket right at the back I keep the foam insert which it came with in it and a 30cm ruler as I hate having to draw a margin in two sections.

Also in the main pocket I have two pencil cases, one for the normal pens and stationary and another for my sketching pencils and fine liners as I am an art student. I also have the One Direction Our Moment sketch book which came with a perfume for little doodles. In my school it's a requirement to have your own scientific calculator for maths tests and exams. I also like to keep a little coin purse with 5p, 10p, and 20p's in it so on a day I could treat myself because my school makes the nicest cakes!

In the front pocket of my bag I have two Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers which my friends have brought back from America, one in Pretty In Pink and another in Swingin' Vanilla. I also have two lipbalms one it Maybelline Baby Lips Intense Care and another in Vaseline Pink Bubbly. I also have a little hand cream which is the Aveeno moisturising cream, I'm thinking of swapping this for The Body Shop's hand cream in pink grapefruit. I also have tablets for my shin splints as I do dance in and out of school and they are a pain! I also keep my phone, ear phones and my house key in there while I'm in school. If I wear a lipstick to school I also put that in there so I can top up as the day goes on.

In the side pockets I like to keep some colourful sharpies but I'm thinking of moving them to my art pencils case so they don't fall out and on the other side I keep my water bottle.

I hope you liked this post I might do some more school related posts at some point.

Top // Topshop
Skirt // Topshop
Shoes // Converse

There isn't many pictures of my actual outfit but I am in love with it! You may or may not have noticed that I have been posting a few outfit posts recently and I enjoy doing them even though I have no modelling skill and I'm insanely awkward in front of a camera.

This post has been sitting in the unpublished file for a few weeks now but I'd like to thank Georgina (former blogger) for taking these pictures of me and telling me what to do. It has also been one year and 10 days since I started this blog and even though not a lot of people view my corner of the internet I'm very grateful for everything!

Pedal 'round This Lonesome Town

Thursday, August 06, 2015

Top// Topshop
Jeans// Topshop
Shoes// Converse

Today, some of my friends and I went on a bike ride to a town where one of our other friends which was just under 4km away. While we were on our way back I got Paige to take some quick pictures of my sitting on the bridge in the sun. It was slightly windy which meant my hair was going everywhere and my top sleeves flew up! You are suppose to wear the top around your shoulders but it's difficult to ride a bike and keep them down so I just let them sit on my shoulders and I think it actually looked quite nice.

I've had such a lovely day as the weather was really nice apart from a few drops of rain but I've been pretty content with life recently. The only other things which went wrong was that on the way back I ripped hole in my jeans (but it was near the seam so I can easily stitch that up) and I fell off of my bike in a dip in the ground between gravel and tarmac but I only have a few bruises.

At the end of the summer holidays I'm going to upload a summer snapshots post with a load of pictures of what I've done!

Treat Yo Self Haul

Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Today with the left over money from my birthday I decided to have a 'treat yo self' shopping trip so I'm going to show some of the things which I got.

MUA eyeshadow palettes in 'romantic efflorescence' and 'heaven & earth' (£4 each)
I absolutely adore MUA eyeshadow palettes as they're such good quality and have the prettiest colours which I expressed in my last post. I'm really excited to use the romantic efflorescence palette because it includes plum colours and I've never been adventurous enough to use them colours!

Collection Extreme 24hr Eyeliner felt-tip (£2.99)
Honestly, this is my favourite felt tip liner. This is probably the fifth time I've repurchased this product as I keep going back for more and more!

The Body Shop body mist in Japanese cherry blossom (£7.50)
One of the things about me is that I'm in love with Japan and anything about it, especially the cherry blossom trees! So I could not refrain myself from buying it as I absolutely adore it.

Topshop vest (£14)
Earlier in the week when I bought a new skirt I tried this top on with it and at that moment in time I only had enough money for the skirt so today I went back to pick up the top which I'm actually wearing right now. (Sorry for the yellow toned picture. I tried to take a picture of me wearing the top and as I couldn't see the screen the pictures came out too dark.)

Newlook jelly shoes (£3 in the sale, should have been £9.99)
I accidentally picked these up in wide fit but they fit fine. I have actually been wanting to get some of these for the past year or so but I didn't really want to pay full price for them as when I was younger they'd always give me blisters and I didn't want that to happen again. But I am in love with these and I can't wait to wear them as they would go with anything!

15th Birthday Haul!

Monday, July 13, 2015

Before I start writing this post here is a disclaimer: I am grateful for everything which I got for my birthday and by no means am I trying to show off. I am also not including everything which I received as this post would go on for ages with all of the little bits and pieces I got.

One of the things I have been using recently which was given to me by my friend Georgina and that is the MUA eyeshadow palette in Hall of Fame. We are both lovers of the MUA palettes as they are only £4 (!!!) and are quite similar to the Naked palettes. They are also very pigmented and are of a high quality. This is my third MUA palette and I'm hoping to get another soon.

The next thing I received was from my Nan, I about screamed when I opened this as I am an avid make-up lover I just don't have a lot of money to buy expensive products, and that is Benefit's They're Real mascara. I had heard so many good reviews about this and my mum also has it so I really wanted to try it out myself. I can confirm, I love this mascara! But due to the long fibres in a ball on the end of the mascara wand I constantly poke myself in the eye.

From my friend Clara, I got two The Body Shop hand cream's in mango and pink grapefruit (I got the shower gel from her as well) and they smell absolutely amazing! The mango one is pictured but my favourite is the pink grapefruit. It leaves my hands so soft and they come in a really cute metal tube kind of like watercolours would!

Another beauty product which I have been absolutely loving is the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint, from my Aunt. I always get two Barry M nail polishes from my aunt and she never fails to disappoint with the colours. I have them in 'plum' and 'sky blue'. Right now I'm wearing plum with a matte top coat over it. The colours are so nice and recently I have been loving purple and you can never have too many light blue nail polishes!

From my Grandma and Grandpa I got a white orchid plant which I've wanted for so so long! I just find them so beautiful, and from my other set of grandparents a got a bamboo orchid for doing well in my dance show which you can see in the back. Whenever I go in to Asda I spend quite a lot of my time just looking at the plant section in awe.

The final gift which I will be featuring in the post is a cushion from my friend Paige. It has the prettiest colour scheme or oranges, greens and white. It has the old rhyme which people say when picking off the petals of a daisy and I just find this cushion really cute. It already has it's place on my bed with a few other cushions which I've had for years now.

Big news! I actually got a new camera! (Just saying, but if someone asked what I'd like for my birthday I'd say that I was saving up for a DSLR camera so I ended up receiving mostly money for my birthday which was what I wanted and ended up having enough to buy a Canon EOS 1200D which is the camera I have been looking at for a year now.) So expect higher quality pictures and as it is the summer holidays also expect more posts on my blog and other stuff coming your way.

Festival of Speed 2015

Sunday, July 12, 2015

A few of you may know that back in June I went to Chichester for Festival of Speed at Goodwood. Even though I don't particularly like or enjoy cars and had a good time there.

I had to wake up at 5am which was a nightmare as I only went to sleep five hours prior as a dance show kept me up late. I slept a large chunk of the way to the festival and we arrived at 8am. When we entered we met up with another family which we are friends with and I got a bit suspicious when people at stands were offering me free things (they were meant to).

As the day went on the males in the group were off all over the place looking at racing and stands, which left us sitting on a picnic blanket in the middle of a cricket pitch. The only stand which took my interest was the Canon stand, they had a competition (which I obviously haven't won) and loads of the cameras with massive professional lenses on them, I was allowed to take a picture with one. I also picked up a I 'heart' Canon badge.

There was then an air show put on by the Red Arrows which I got a few pictures of and then a show done by Tornado which was just one fly by. After that we had a bit of a wander looking at the different stands, we went in to Mini and looked at the new model of car which is released in October I think, we weren't allowed to take in phones or camera's so I don't have any pictures of that. We then got the picnic food from the car and ate, I definitely ate too much as when Typhoon (another air show) was flying I fell asleep in the sun!

All-in-all I had a great time. We want to go back next year but for two days so we're able to see more and go around the whole festival. Another thing which I gained from this trip is strap marks on my back and tanned knees from wearing ripped skinny jeans as the weather was absolutely beautiful!

Sorry for the lack of posts but it's now the summer holidays so expect hearing from me much more!

How To: Raspberry & Banana Vegan Smoothie

Monday, June 15, 2015

Recently, I have been trying to be healthier as I have two different dance shows coming up in the next two weeks and don't want to feel bloated. A few days ago my dad came back from going to the Co-Op with a smoothie maker with him (Kenwood Smoothie 2Go) so I took the opportunity to make a delicious drink!

Ingredients:
1 banana
a hand-full of frozen raspberries
3 cubes of ice
soya milk

Firstly, put the frozen products in the bottom (raspberries and ice) and then put the rest of the fruit (or veg) above it. You don't need to chop the banana as it is easily breakable.
Then, quarter fill it with soya milk. Personally I prefer soya milk but you can use whatever milk you want. My brother made the exact same smoothie but with cows milk and I find the colour isn't as nice and is too creamy to me. Soya milk is also good because then vegans can drink this, my mum doesn't really want me to be a vegan but she is supporting me still and we're coming up with different vegan meals.
Finally, put on the blending lid and tip it upside down put it on to the base and turn the machine on. I alternate between high and low as I don't want to break it with the amount of frozen produce in it.

I have been thinking of doing more posts like this and maybe making a food & drink section of my blog with different meals that don't really need cooking

"oh look at that wonderful sempervivum"
Top// Topshop (unavailable)
Jeans// Topshop

The other day I had slept at Georgina's and we thought it would be fun to shoot some outfit pictures. I am in no way shape or form, a model so I was really awkward so this was the only picture where I actually looked decent as I didn't take that much make-up with me.

I kept the picture at it's original size as if it goes any bigger it would end up blurry and pixelated. I also took some pictures myself as all I have is a digital point and shoot and want to get a different, more professional and better quality camera.

I'm hoping in the future to do a few more 'fashion' posts as I personally absolutely love them!

Revision Tips

Monday, May 11, 2015

I'm not going to say that I'm queen of revising because I definitely am not, to be honest I'm crap at it! But, I am going to share with you some tips and different ways of revising.

Post-it notes.
I actually have a few of these on my wall with Of Mice and Men quotes and the meaning written down on them. I also had Biology until we did the test and then I ripped them down. These are handy for the little thing (1d pun) you want to remember such as the meaning of a quote or the equation for photosynthesis.

Revision guides.
I have quite a few of these but I find them comforting knowing I have all the information I need in books. Sometimes I will just read through them, like I did with my An Inspector Calls one or make notes from them like I did with the Science one when I had mock exams.

Flash cards.
As an activity in one of my Physics lessons we had to make something to help with revision. Me and two of my friends did flash cards with a question on one side and the answer on the other. The teacher liked them so much they are on display with other revision booklets and games!

Revision timetables.
Creating a revision timetable will give you a structured amount of time to get the right amount of revision in and also have enough time for yourself as your mental health comes before any exam you could do.

Past exam questions.
To get the gist of what the exam is going to be like it's best to maybe print off past questions off of the internet. If you're a GCSE student and your exam board is AQA they have tonnes of past questions on their website. You can also do this with English and take it to your teacher, I'm sure they wouldn't mind marking it for you.

Group revision sessions.
I don't have any personal experience with these but me and my friends are going to organise a get-together so we can all practise writing some poetry and novel questions. Just remember, actually do some revision and even though it's difficult, don't slack off!

I've only recently started to use this but I find it really helpful as you can create mind maps, flash cards, notes, quiz's and also find them made by others. You can also get a mobile app but I personally prefer it on the internet. You can also create revision timetables and groups with your friends so you can all help each other out. You can print out resources and keep them with you.

Before-exams tips.
The morning of your exam have a filling yet healthy breakfast as it will get you started and energised for the day. My mum actually bought me a bottle of smart water the other day for my exam saying it will help me to be smarter. Remember to get lots of sleep, I recommend at least being in bed at 9pm.

I hope someone has found this useful!

How To: Insanely Curly Hair

Friday, May 08, 2015

Hello everyone! Last weekend I went round to my friend, Georgina's house and she decided to curl my hair. I think it looked absolutely brilliant!

1. The first thing she did was spray my hair with GHD heat protectant.
2. When she curled a section of hair she pinned it to my head with a grip so It looked like I had little pin wheels all over my head.
3. It was left for a bit after it was all curled and pinned and then she took them out. My hair looked super curly and super short but it was absolutely amazing

As you can see, I'm and awkward poser so I just put my hand in my hair and tried to look decent. We then took a few pictures for Instagram which you can see. This style will last for three days but by the third day you'll have loose curls in the end of you hair.

I tried re-creating this look with my mum but slept on it over night. When I took it out in the morning it looked really good but as the day went on my hair was straight by the time I got home from school which is annoying.

Happiness

Friday, May 01, 2015

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few weeks but I've been slightly stressed with school. I've never been one to be open about my feelings but I feel like I should share this with you.

Recently, I've been coming home after school and dance clubs upset and sad. I don't really have a solid reason why but in the past year I've lost six people from my friendship group but have gained two amazing people.

I don't feel like doing something which I've loved from a young age and I feel really pressured to do well in school, I have three proper GCSE exams next month and our teacher are always saying they're disappointed in us and are always pointing out the bad things rather than praising the good.

To help cheer myself up I'm going to list a few things which have happened to me recently which have made me happy:

1. The sun has been shining. Personally, I like the rain but the sun is out, people are happy, moods are lifted and it just makes everything seem so much better.

2. I went for a run. Running is suppose to release endorphins and make you happier but to be honest I feel terrible after going for a run as I'm not very good but even though it did take 45 minutes I ran/walked 3.8 miles! I've never been the healthiest or the fittest but I'd like to get healthier.

3. Making Paige happy. I have a short anecdote for you, Paige my friend loves the Gold chocolate bars but her mum never buys them for her. My mum bought them for me and my brother for lunch at school and I told my mum this and she got me to take on to school for her and it made her so happy, which made me happy.

4. Cherry blossom trees. I absolutely love cherry blossom trees especially the pink ones. In my home town for the past month or so they've been in bloom so it just makes everywhere so much prettier. I also had a nice chat to my grandad about them and he told me the pink ones are ornamental and don't actually grow cherries.

I'm not going to do this every week or day, I'll probably just add two or three things to the end of every post. I hope you had a nice day! (Here is picture of flowers which I took over the weekend)

Mascara: Ted Baker vs Maybelline

Friday, April 03, 2015

So here is another battle of the make-up products! Please remember I did my make-up differently in each picture so that may effect the overall result of the mascaras.

Maybelline: The Falsies. I absolutely love this mascara. Just look at how long my lashes look! I find this great as I have naturally short eyelashes which I absolutely hate. The picture for the Maybelline mascara (top) isn't very good as I must have taken it back in early 2014 but you get the picture. I hadn't even curled my eyelashes and I'm still amazed at how long they look! It is sold at £7.99 at Superdrug which I use to think was expensive when I first started to like make-up but honestly, I think it's worth it! Another thing which I love is the curve the tip of the mascara wand has which makes it a lot easier to reach all of the lashes.

Ted Baker: A Star Is Born. This actually comes in a gift set which I don't think is available any more but I chose this mascara anyway as I needed something to compare The Falsies to. I do really like this mascara but it took some time to get use to as the bristles were quite short and the mascara wand tip was quite straight. In the picture (bottom) I had previously curled my eyelashes before putting the mascara on so whilst you compare please remember that.

As you can see, I still have the same bags and lines which are under my eyes which is insanely annoying. But on the bright side, look at how much me taking pictures has improved! Overall, I think I prefer Maybelline's The Falsies as it adds quite a bit of length to my lashes but I will continue to use the Ted Baker mascara because I'm happy with the way it looks, what mascara is your favourite?
